Form:cross-slab
Okasha/Forsyth/2001, 192: `The stone is of irregular, sub-rectangular shape. The front and right faces are perpendicular and the back face slopes to give a roughly triangular cross-section'.
Condition:incomplete , good
Okasha/Forsyth/2001, 192: `Damage has been sustained along the left edge and it is possible that a wedge has been broken off the back. The long edges of the face, although damaged, are straight. The upper and lower edges are irregular but may be original. It seems likely that this is a carefully selected natural boulder rather than a deliberately shaped stone'.

Notes

Orientation:circular
Position:n/a ; broad ; below cross ; separated
Okasha/Forsyth/2001, 192: `The text is set in one curving line beneath the encircled cross'.
Incision:pocked
Raftery/1967, 219: `pecked on the surface of the stone'.
Okasha/Forsyth/2001, 192: `pecked'.
Date:675 - 725 (Raftery/1967)

600 - 699 (Okasha/Forsyth/2001)
Okasha/Forsyth/2001, 193, argue for a seventh-century date.
Language:name only (rbook)
Ling. Notes:Okasha/Forsyth/2001, 193: `Comparison with other similar stones suggests that the text is likely to have contained a simple personal name'.
Palaeography:Okasha/Forsyth/2001, 192: `The text is in half-uncial script'.

CISP: The lettering is Insular half uncial. The As are in the 'OC' form and the N, L and D both have wedge-shaped finials atop their ascenders. The ascender of the D is vertical and the bow is open, much like on REASK/1, KMKDR/1/2, and KMKDR/2.

Legibility:good
Raftery/1967, 219: `There are faint indications of another letter...it may be an `A'.

Okasha/Forsyth/2001, 192: `Some text is lost at the left side where the stone's surface is damaged. If the lower edge is not original it is possible that further lines of text could have been lost from beneath the existing one. The text is ... Legible'.
