History:Petrie/1878, 63: `Two drawings of this inscription were found among Dr. Petrie's papers. The first was made by J. Ashworth, in the year 1782...the second drawing appears to have been made by Dr. Petrie himself'.

Macalister/1949, 39: `now lost with the general destruction of the site. Copies are on record made by a certain J. Ashworth, 1782, and by Petrie, who saw something of the remains before they were so completely removed'.

The dimensions of this stone are nowhere recorded so it is difficult to assign a form. It does, however, appear to have been substantially worked. The stone could also have been placed upright as a pillar, or been recumbent.

Ling. Notes:Petrie/1878, 63: `As ingin is the dative singluar of ingen, Meind must also be dative singular, and its nominative probably Mend (now written meann), which is said to mean 'illustrious', 'manifest' and 'dumb'. These two datives may be governed by the do of the usual formula Oroit do, which has either been lost or is to be understood'.
Palaeography:CISP: The inscription is in half-uncial. The Es are in the open uncial form; the ascender of the D bends over the bow to the left; the G is half-uncial; the bows of the A's are quite angular and the R is majuscule. The Ms and N are minuscule with curved top strokes.
