3 February 2014

Rodney Harrison

Rodney Harrison has been invited to deliver a keynote lecture on the theme of 'Values' at an event in Paris this week exploring the challenges facing cultural heritage.

The closing conference of the project 'Ateliers De Reflexion Prospective' (ARP) on 'New Challenges for the Cultural Heritage' (Nouveaux Défis pour le Patrimoine Culturel) is entitled The Horizons of Cultural Heritage (Les horizons du patrimoine culturel). The event will take place on 6 and 7 February 2014 and will bring together c.270 academics, policy makers and heritage practitioners in the Auditorium of the Cité de l’Architecture et du Patrimoine in Paris. Rodney's presentation will be on the theme 'Assembling alternative futures for heritage'.

This project involves a consortium of 60 French researchers of different disciplines, financed by the French National Research Agency (ANR), who are working to develop an understanding the emerging stakes of cultural heritage in France and in Europe, seen in the context of globalization, in order to propose new themes of research for the next 20-25 years.  This project represents one of the most significant efforts of the French National Research Agency for forecasting future research directions on heritage.
