Cooden Camp, Bexhill

Archaeology South-East has been excavating at the site of Cooden Camp, a WW1 training camp in Bexhill, East Sussex

Our excavations at Cooden are now complete! The artefacts recovered are being analysed back in the lab so we can get as full an understanding as possible of wartime life at Cooden.

You can read about the excavations here: Archaeological dig in Bexhill to shine a light on the story of Sussex’s First World War soldiers

We've been lucky to have been visited by multiple news crews during the excavation! You can watch a short BBC video on Instagram, or an in-depth ITV news feature.

More information about the next phase of the project, which includes publishing our interpretations and public engagement, coming soon!
