The Big Ig Nobel UK Show - with Volker Sommer Performing

12 March 2013

Professor Volker Sommer has been honoured with an invitation to perform at this year's Ig Nobel UK show - under the time-honoured motto "Research that makes people LAUGH and then THINK".

The event, in conjunction with National Science & Engineering Week on March 15th in the "Great Hall" of Imperial College, is part of the eleventh annual Ig Nobel tour. Volker Sommer's piece of "Improbable Research" has already been featured in the media (www.guardian.co.uk/education/2012/sep/17/improbable-research-chimpanzees-army-ants). The original findings - published jointly by Oliver Allon, Alejandra Pascual-Garrido & Volker Sommer - also made the title page of the recent issue of the "Journal of Zoology" (288: 237-244). The research's central tenets will be brought onto stage under the headline "Why, in the name of science, I ate ants".
