UCL MRes in Anthropology - Studentship in Adaptable Suburbs
28 June 2013

Applications are invited for a 1 year EPSRC/ESRC funded MRes studentship available for UK/EU candidates starting on the UCL MRes in Anthropology in September 2013.
Subject Area: The studentship is funded by the Adaptable Suburbs project and the recipient of the award will need to write their Dissertation/report on a topic relevant to the project, to be agreed with Dr Victor Buchli and the project team led by Professor Laura Vaughan. The project is a study of the relationship between networks of human activity and the changing form of urban and suburban centres through time. A common concern of the Adaptable Suburbs project team, reflected in their previous work, is the question of "how the physical city both embodies and shapes the human city". The topic will be focused on a business ethnography of suburban commercial practices within at least two of the four outer London case studies.
Eligibility
Students must meet UCL's admission requirements for the MRes. This EPSRC funded Studentship will cover Home/EU fees and an annual stipend of up to a maximum of £15,726 per year (current rate) for UK students. Applicants should note that they must meet the student eligibility rules as set out by the funder, including residency criteria. Students not meeting the residency criteria who are from EU countries may qualify for a fee-only award. For detailed terms and conditions see the RCUK Student Funding Guide (as outlined here: www.epsrc.ac.uk/skills/students/help/Pages/eligibility.aspx).
