An exploration of how collaborative storytelling has shaped my practice as an artist and filmmaker, evolving through connections with anthropology, personal narratives, and co-creation methods. This is exemplified in the collaborative arts projects 'A Taste of the Granville' and 'Memories of Tower Hamlets. 

About the Speaker

Dieter Deswarte

Lecturer at UCL

Dieter Deswarte is a London-based filmmaker, artist, and Lecturer in Non-Fiction Film at UCL EAST, where he is currently the head of Public Anthropology.  Dieter also co-founded Yarrow Films, a social enterprise that uses filmmaking to empower communities through inclusive, participatory methods. His work, known for its intimacy and cinematic beauty, has been screened at festivals worldwide, including BFI Flare, Open City Docs, Vision du Réel, Tokyo Docs, and more. His practice explores the intersections of storytelling, public engagement, and social impact.
