From community-led treatment programmes in Mexico City and indigenous religious therapies in Uganda, through to a Buddhist monastery in Thailand and a luxury rehab on the US west coast, this workshop considers addiction in new class and cultural contexts. It brings together some of the most influential global experts in the anthropology of addiction with a new generation of researchers working at UCL, to develop new vantage points on this notoriously hard-to-treat condition.
