We welcome Ricardo López-Pedreros as our new Leverhulme Trust Visiting Professor

The Institute of the Americas is delighted to announce that Professor Paulo Drinot and Professor Ricardo López-Pedreros have been awarded a Leverhulme Trust Visiting Professorship. Professor López-Pedreros is Professor of History at Western Washington University (United States). While at UCL-IA, as Leverhulme Trust Visiting Professor, he will explore the contested histories of democracies in the Americas. In particular, he will present his recent research on the historical formation of the middle classes in Latin America. He will also work on his current research on the social foundations of neoliberalism in the Americas during the second half of the twentieth century

The Leverhulme Trust was established by the Will of William Hesketh Lever, the founder of Lever Brothers. Since 1925 the Trust has provided grants and scholarships for research and education.
