Under the supervision of Dr Par Engstrom, Senior Lecturer in Human Rights at the UCL Institute of the Americas, a team of six recently-graduated master’s students from the Institute co-authored a study with the objective of identifying critical issues and general trends in human rights in Colombia and formulating recommendations to improve the European Union’s engagement on human rights matters in the country.
At this event, the team will present their findings in a panel chaired by Andrei Gómez-Súarez, Honorary Senior Research Associate at the Institute. Colombia’s human rights situation remains highly complex and volatile, and this study intends to bring to light the pressing issues and provide a road-map for the EU to improve its engagement efforts in the current post-conflict scenario
