UCL Families

Join the UCL Family Programme
Families of current and incoming UCL students can sign up to receive a termly bulletin outlining events and updates about life at UCL, as well as advice on how to best support their student throughout their time in London. To register for the Family Programme, you must be the parent, guardian or other family member of:
A current UCL student, or
A student who has accepted an unconditional firm offer to study at UCL in 25/26.
Summer send-off events
This summer, our international alumni groups hosted a series of fantastic send-off events across the US and China, welcoming more than 400 students and their families. These events were a fantastic way for prospective students (and their families) to meet fellow students and alumni who offered advice about studying in London and how to make the most of one's time at UCL.
How does our alumni community support UCL students?
Current students can:
Connect with UCL’s global alumni groups, either by attending alumni-led events in their home country or connecting virtually via email, WhatsApp, Facebook etc. to get advice and broaden their network of inspiring and supportive alumni in their home communities.
Receive mentorship from talented UCL alumni through:
Our Alumni Skills Mentoring scheme where alumni teach students new skills and broaden their career horizons over a period of three months.
Our popular Student-Alumni Chats programme that pairs a student with an alum who shares a similar degree discipline or country of origin for a one-off conversation.
Attend UCL Connect events, a series of masterclasses delivered by expert alumni who help students and graduates enhance their personal and professional development.
Then once a student graduates, they remain a member of the UCL community for life with access to UCL Connect masterclasses, networking events in London and internationally, and three years of employability support from the UCL Careers team.
Advice for parents and families
For information about how to support your student at UCL, please see our guidance for parents and guardians of current and prospective UCL students.
You can also read this blog by alumna and parent Natasha Winnard (UCL Geography BA 1995) about how parents and families can best support their students at university.
As both an educator and a parent, I’ve come to understand something vital: when families engage meaningfully with their child’s university experience, students tend to thrive.

As per the UCL Student Privacy Policy, the Advancement team will not share any personal information about your student. You can learn more about how UCL handles student data on our Information for Parents webpage.
