UCL alumni, staff and students can submit nominations for the inaugural UCL Alumni Awards and help celebrate exceptional alumni making an impact around the world.
Here, we see UCL alumni making a difference across the world every day. They are shaping the future of industries, turning ideas into action, and building meaningful careers that improve lives. They stand up for shared values and give back generously to UCL, embodying the university’s founding principles of excellence, equality and inclusion.
The UCL Alumni Awards shine a light on these remarkable achievements and the alumni behind them. Launched on 1 May, the Awards come during UCL’s 200th anniversary year, as we celebrate the people who make up our global community.
Nominations are now open to the UCL community (alumni, current staff and students) to recognise alumni across three categories:
- Discovery Award: Recognising alumni who are creating change in their field or industry, pushing boundaries to discover answers to issues of today and improving lives through their work. Areas/sectors of work could include, but are not limited to: academia, research and entrepreneurship.
- Global Impact Award: Recognising alumni who use their voice, ideas and creativity to make an impact on society. This may include, but is not limited to: writers, artists, influencers and activists.
- Citizens Award: Celebrating alumni who generously give back to UCL. This could be through mentorship, volunteering or philanthropic support.
If you know an alum who you think should be celebrated in one of these categories (or perhaps this is you!) – whether it’s for career achievements, generous service to UCL or because they’re a community-builder – please submit a nomination.
Nominations: who is eligible?
- You must be a UCL alum, staff member or student to nominate an alum for the Awards. If you’re a UCL alum, you can nominate yourself or nominate another inspiring alum. If you’re a member of staff or a student, you can nominate an alum whose work or impact you admire.
- All nominees must be UCL alumni.
- All alumni are eligible for nomination, regardless of when they studied at UCL.
- ‘Alumni’ refers to anyone who studied at UCL for 100 days or more.
How to make a nomination
- Complete this form to submit a nomination.
- You may submit more than one nomination across different award categories.
- Each nomination must be for one award category only.
Nominations close on Tuesday 30 June 2026.
We anticipate a high volume of nominations and will not be able to respond to all applicants. If your submission is shortlisted – whether you have nominated yourself or someone else – we will be in touch. If you have been nominated by someone else and are shortlisted, we will contact you to confirm that you are happy to be considered for an award.
Following the nomination period, judging panels comprising staff from across UCL will convene in July and August, with winners announced in October 2026.
Up to three winners will be selected per category. Winners will receive coverage across the UCL Alumni website and social media channels, highlighting their achievements, as well as a winners’ package including a certificate and a gift.
