Alumni Volunteering Awards 2020

13 March 2020

For the third consecutive year, UCL is looking to recognise and celebrate the amazing contributions of its alumni volunteers.

UCL Volunteers

The Alumni Volunteering Awards offer the perfect opportunity to celebrate the wonderful alumni volunteers, who dedicate their time to helping to advance the UCL community as part of the It's All Academic Campaign. This year, we invited submissions in the following categories:

•    Alumni Volunteer of the Year
•    Alumni Group / Network of the Year

Winners and runners up will be announced during Volunteers Week (1 – 5 June 2020) so keep an eye on our social media channels.

About the awards

In 2016, we set the ambitious goal of reaching 250,000 volunteer hours as part of our It's All Academic Campaign. Today, we are proud to say that we are 90% of the way there! This remarkable milestone is only possible thanks to the brilliant UCL alumni who work so hard to create valuable experiences and lifelong memories for their peers.

UCL's Alumni Volunteering Awards were first launched in 2018 with the aim of expressing our gratitude to the phenomenal alumni volunteers who dedicate their time and effort to enriching the UCL experience for students, graduates, and staff alike.

Speaker at UCL Alumni Event

By offering careers advice, coordinating reunions, and speaking at events, our graduates contribute so much to learning and life at UCL.

At last year’s awards, Usha Back won Volunteer of the Year for her fantastic mentoring workshops for UCL Pharmacy students. Meanwhile, the UCL Mexico Association won Alumni Group of the Year for their work arranging reunions, talking to prospective students, and keeping the spirit of UCL thriving in Central America.

We were also thrilled to mark exceptional contributions from Aamir Delawalla, Luna Irshaid Al Taher, the BME Network, and The Netherlands Alumni Group. We’re so proud to have such a supportive group of alumni volunteers and look forward to celebrating them again this year!
