Professor Michael Arthur is stepping down as UCL President & Provost after seven years in the role. During this time, Professor Arthur has overseen the university’s rise up the world rankings to eighth in the QS World University Rankings (2020), secured UCL’s position as the most successful institute in collaborative research in Europe and put the university on a strong and sustainable financial footing.

To mark the closure of his time as President & Provost, Professor Arthur asks UCL's supporters and friends to support students who are experiencing severe, unforeseen financial hardship as a direct result of COVID-19.

UCL has a long history of supporting students in financial need. At a time when many cannot do part-time work, when some are unable to pay rent or face the unexpected costs of flights home as well as study equipment, we have a duty as an institution, and an alumni community, to respond.

You, our alumni and friends, are an important part of the UCL family and we would like to ask you to help us at this time. Any donation, no matter the size, will have an immediate impact on UCL’s students – it will help restore their peace of mind, demonstrate your confidence in their future and give them the courage to continue their studies.

Give now, and let’s make sure this period of uncertainty doesn’t mean the uncertainty of a future without a UCL degree for any of our students.
