Film Society Reunion - 9th December 2010

Film Society Reunion

Just over 35 UCL alumni attended the reunion of the Film Society, held on the same evening as the annual Jeremy Bentham Awards to honour those students for their outstanding work as part of the Society. The current President of the Film Society, Cristina Calatayud, writes:

'We were delighted to be joined by so many alumni for a highly enjoyable and memorable evening mixing Film Society members past and present.  Guests viewed a documentary: Memories of Film Soc, which was presented by Robert Coren and catalogued the destruction of the old film society studio, the creation of today’s studio, and a reminder of the history and of the trials of the film society.  Many alumni who attended had been involved in producing many of the film clips that were included in the documentary.

After watching the film we enjoyed refreshments, and alumni were keen to quiz us on what the Society is up to today.  We were also fascinated by stories shared by alumni of bygone Film Society successes.   It was apparent that since leaving UCL, many Film Society alumni have gone on to successful careers within the film industry, with some past members unable to attend the event due to their prolific careers based in Los Angeles.  Many alumni who attended had not seen each other for years and were delighted to reunite. We’d like to thank them for their attendance and we aim to keep an earnest diligence in maintaining the history of the Film Society and upholding the high standards past members have set for us.'
