Across the world, the UCL alumni community is doing incredible things: shaping the future of industries, standing up for shared values, and giving back generously to UCL.
The UCL Alumni Awards celebrate these remarkable achievements, and the individuals behind them, highlighting the many ways our alumni make an impact through innovation, creativity and service to the UCL community.
We know there are so many inspiring stories out there, and to help us discover them, we need nominations from across UCL. You must be a UCL alum, staff member or student to submit a nomination.
If you’re a UCL alum, you can:
- Nominate yourself
- Nominate another inspiring alum
If you’re a member of staff or a student, you can:
- Nominate an alum whose work or impact you admire
There are three UCL Alumni Award categories. These include: the Discovery Award, the Global Impact Award and the Citizens Award. Find out more about each category below before submitting a nomination.

UCL alumni are out in the world making a difference – and making things happen. That’s why we’ve launched the UCL Alumni Awards: to recognise and celebrate the outstanding achievements and impact our global alumni community is having. And what better time to do this than during UCL’s 200th anniversary year, as we come together to celebrate the people who make up our community.
Emma Hallett, Executive Director of Alumni and Supporter Experience at UCL and UCL alumna (classes of 2014 and 2015)
This award recognises alumni who are making innovative contributions, translating ideas into action, and improving lives through their work.
Areas/sectors of work could include, but are not limited to: academia, research, and entrepreneurship, as well as STEM, sustainability, and the not-for-profit sector.
They are asking big questions, discovering meaningful answers, and turning ideas into impact.
Through their work, these alumni shape how people understand the world, challenging perspectives and shifting culture in meaningful ways, using their voice, ideas and creativity to make an impact on society wherever they are based across the globe.
This may include, but is not limited to: writers, journalists, artists, creatives, communicators, influencers, community organisers, or activists – whether their platform is large or small.
This award celebrates alumni who generously give back to UCL and strengthen our global community through their time, expertise or philanthropic support.
This may include alumni who support UCL as mentors, volunteers, global group leaders, scholarship supporters and legacy pledgers.
