Call for Proposals: Horizon 2020

14 February 2014

The European Commission has recently published the first Work Programmes and Calls for Proposals under its new flagship Research and Innovation programme, Horizon 2020

It is the biggest programme of its kind with nearly €80 billion of funding available over 7 years (2014 to 2020). As with the previous Framework Programmes, H2020 involves a complex application process and the collaboration of many partners. The European Institute offers UCL research staff a platform to discuss and develop project ideas that are very broadly speaking Europe-related, particularly from the Humanities and Social Sciences. We do not offer expert support with or advice on the proposal writing stage, although we will offer links with UCL offices that do. Above all, we wish to stimulate, brainstorm and support the development of ideas and intellectual rationales that have the potential to develop into H2020 bids.

If you are interested in taking part in such exploratory discussions, please email us with a brief outline of your research interest and proposal idea.

Relevant Calls: Horizon 2020 no longer provides a separate pillar to social science/humanities areas; these have instead been integrated into all other areas, making them harder to identify. With the help of UCL's European Research and Innovation Office we have extracted a summary of calls (with deadlines 2014 and 2015), which might be of particular interest. Below an excerpt of these - the full list is available upon request.
