We are delighted to announce that UCL Arts & Humanities has risen to number 4 in The Times Higher Education (THE) World University Rankings 2016-17.

This positions UCL as the second highest ranked UK university for Arts & Humanities and put us ahead of other top Russell Group institutions such as Cambridge (5th) and Edinburgh (14th).

The THE’s World Rankings are calculated based on performance in 13 different categories, including teaching, research, knowledge transfer and international outlook.

UCL Arts and Humanities achieved a higher ranking than any other UCL subject group, scoring particularly highly for 'international outlook' and the quality of research.

Interim Dean for UCL Arts & Humanities, Professor John Mullan, added: "Last year, my predecessor, Professor Jonathan Wolff, congratulated teachers and researchers in the Faculty for their efforts when UCL Arts and Humanities was placed fifth in the world in the Times Higher Education Supplement table. Having come fourth this year (behind only Harvard, Oxford and Stanford) I feel even more congratulations are in order.
