Tyng-Rong studied her PhD in the department of Civil, Environmental and Geomatic Engineering at University College London from 2008 to 2013. She is interested in computer simulation, visualisation and data analysis, especially in the field of crowd movement and spatial interaction.
Her research was the development of an agent-based evacuation model, using the data from qualitative analysis of fire investigation reports to build human behavioural rules for simulating evacuation movement. Based on the results, the model can be used for predicting the impact of the design or configuration, addressing any safety issues in an existing environment or applying findings to prevent similar disasters in the future. Agent-based simulation has become a key technology in addressing issues and challenges in social sciences, transportation, economics and biological applications. She is looking forward to develop her modelling, database and analysis skills in different fields and work in cross disciplines.
