About the Accordia Library

The Accordia Library is a growing collection, amounting at present to some 3,000 items. It comprises mostly specialist publications on the history and archaeology of Italy, which have been acquired from donations and exchanges with authors, journals and other libraries.

It is housed at the Institute of Archaeology, UCL, but due to lack of space and staff support, it is not open for public consultation at the moment. However, enquiries about our holdings from scholars working on aspects of Italian studies are welcome, and we try to make volumes from the library available for consultation where feasible. We regret we cannot so far provide a complete catalogue of the whole Library. One is under preparation, and will be published on this site when it is ready.

If you would like further information about the Accordia library, or would like to arrange a regular exchange of Accordia Research Papers for a journal you are associated with, please contact Professor Ruth Whitehouse (

Please note also that Institutional Membership of Accordia is available to Libraries. This offers, inter alia, discounts on the purchase of Accordia volumes. We are also always happy to receive donations/bequests of books or offprints.
