UCL Accommodation Welcome Festival 2020 Quiz Terms and Conditions

This quiz is promoted and operated by UCL Accommodation. Details of how to enter form part of these terms and condition (‘Terms’). It is a condition of entry that all rules are accepted as final and that the participant agrees to abide by these rules. 

Eligibility

  1. The quiz is open to all current UCL Accommodation 2020/2020 residents.  
  2. The quiz takes place from 6.30pm on Sunday 4 October 2020 for approximately 20 minutes.
  3. UCL or associated third party contractor staff members are not eligible to participate in the quiz.
  4. The quiz master will be the Welcome Festival host Alexis Dubus who also facilitates the quiz. 
  5. Residents who have left UCL accommodation are not eligible to participate in the quiz. 
  6. Participation is non-transferable.

How to Enter

  1. Entry to the quiz is by submitting a correct answer via the live stream live chat function which will run throughout the Welcome Festival event. 
  2. Participants can participate in the quiz individually.
  3. Quiz consists ten questions and the first answer given by an individual will be recorded as the answer submitted. 
  4. Only one answer per individual. Multiple answers will be disqualified. 
  5. Any breach of UCL Accommodation regulations, wider UCL regulations or any other behaviour judged to be offensive, discriminatory or defamatory will result in immediate disqualification and removal from the quiz. 
  6. No responsibility will be accepted for incomplete or answers not received. 

The Rules

  1. The quiz master will be in possession of question and the score sheet.
  2. The quiz master will announce individual questions via the live stream. 
  3. One prize is awarded per question and will be awarded to the first correct entry that fulfils these terms.  
  4. In any dispute during play, the quiz master’s decision is final. 
  5. If any individual raises a query with the quiz mater as to the factual correctness of a question, the quiz master may use a smartphone or other internet connected device to check the accuracy of the question as written, with a view to the quiz master using such information as is found to rule on the dispute. 
  6. First individual who satisfies these terms to submit a correct answer will be declared as the winner. 
  7. Any form of cheating during the quiz is not allowed. The quiz master has the authority to disqualify any individual that is caught cheating at any point during the quiz.
  8. If any winning individual is found to have cheated or broken these terms in any ways, the winner will be the individual with the next fastest entry.

The Prize

  1. Each winning individual will ‘Win’ the prize.
  2. A prize will be awarded to the ‘winner’ of each of the ten questions read by the quizmaster.
  3. Any one individual can win only one prize, regardless of how many correct and fastest answers they submit.
  4. There is a total of 10 prizes as follows: 10 x £10 Amazon gift E-Voucher
  5. Prize will be awarded to only current UCL Accommodation residents who are the winning individual.
  6. If you are not fortunate enough to win, you shall not be entitled to any prize and we shall have no liability to you in this regard. 
  7. Prizes are non-transferable, non-exchangeable and no cash alternative is offered. 
  8. Prizes are subject to availability and are subject to change without notice to you throughout the lifetime of the quiz. 
  9. Prizes may not be transferred or sold. Any Amazon E-Voucher sold may become voidable. 
  10. The winning individual or team will be announced during the quiz by the quiz master and sent the prize by email by Friday 9 October 2020 to their UCL email address. 
  11. To claim the prize the winning individual or team must follow the instructions in the email notifying them that they are the winner. 
  12. Amazon gift e-voucher is valid until the expiry date of the e-voucher.(“Validity Period”).
  13. If the winning individual or team purchases a product/service that costs more than the e-voucher value/remaining value of the e-voucher, the winning individual or team will need to pay the balance.

Privacy

  1. Any information and data provided or collected in accordance with the quiz will be dealt with in accordance with the provisions of the EU General Data Protection Regulation (‘GDPR’).
  2. Personal data supplied during the course of the quiz will be passed on to a third-party supplier for fulfilment/delivery/arrangement of the prize. 

Changes to these Terms

  1. We reserve the right to change or amend these Terms. 
  2. If you do not accept the notified changes, you will not be permitted to enter the quiz. If you have already entered the quiz, we reserve the right to withdraw your participation and shall not be liable in this regard. 

General 

  1. We reserve the right, at our sole discretion, to refuse participation in this quiz.  

  2. We reserve the right to refuse to award a prize to anyone in breach of these Terms. 

  3. The winning individual or team may be required to participate in publicity which may include the publication of names and photographs in any media. 

  4. Events may occur that render the awarding of the prize impossible to reasons beyond our control. Accordingly, we may, at our sole discretion, vary or amend the quiz and you agree that no liability shall attach to us as a result thereof. We reserve the right to cease the quiz, withdraw or substitute any prize at any time prior to the redemption of the prize. 

  5. We shall under no circumstances whatsoever be liable to you whether in contract, tort (including negligence), breach of statutory duty or otherwise for any loss (including indirect and consequential losses), damage, personal injury or death arising out of, under or in connection with the quiz or these Terms.

  6. Our decision in all matters is final and binding. No correspondence will be entered into.

  7. These Terms constitute the entire agreement between us and you.

  8. We may at any time assign, transfer, subcontract or deal in any other manner with all or any of our rights or obligations.

  9. If any part of these Terms is or become invalid, illegal or unenforceable, they shall be deemed modified to the minimum extent necessary to make them valid, legal and enforceable. If such modification is not possible, the relevant provision or part-provision shall be deemed deleted. Such deletion or part deletion shall not affect the validity and enforceability of these Terms.

  10. These Terms are governed by the law of England and Wales.
