Food in UCL Halls of Residence
UCL uses Sodexo as their catering provider.
Both our catered accommodation halls - Ifor Evans Hall and Ramsay Hall - offer a variety of food, including meat, fish, vegetarian and vegan options.
Breakfast and evening meals are provided Monday to Friday and lunch is provided at weekends. You need to make own arrangements for other meals at the weekends, on Bank Holidays, College closure days, the Christmas vacation (three weeks) and one week during the Easter vacation, as no meals are served at these times.
Students can enjoy a continental breakfast or a full English breakfast, all served with triple certified Aspretto coffee, tea and a range of juices.
- Lunch and Dinners
Enjoy delicious and healthy soups, a wide variety of hot meals, a salad bar and much more.
- Themed dinners
- We hold regular themed dinners cultivating food from different parts of the world and celebrating international holidays like Korean or Caribbean Bar, Diwali, Thanksgiving, Hanukah or Christmas.
A meal card will be issued for students in Ifor Evans Hall and Ramsay Hall on arrival. You will be asked to show your meal card to the front-line team member at each meal time.
Meal tickets for guests
Meal tickets for guests can be purchased from the site offices and will be billed through your Portico account.
Please be aware that you are not allowed to share your meal card with non-resident under any circumstances.
Both UCL's Halls of Residence have been awarded the prestigious Food for Life Bronze accreditation. Food served in the halls is fresh and sustainably sourced. Our provider, Sodexo, offers:
- free range eggs,
- Red Tractor certified meat (including halal chicken and beef),
- MSC certified fish and
- triple certified teas and coffee and
- wonky vegetables to reduce food waste.
In order to minimise the negative impact on the environment, no disposable plates or cutlery are used in the dining halls.
