Double award success for UCL Accommodation
10 July 2019
UCL Accommodation triumphed at the 2019 CUBO Awards by winning the Best Marketing Campaign, and the Innovation in Student Experience categories.
Held at Swansea University this year, the CUBO Awards are a yearly event to recognise the achievements of those working within the higher education industry in the UK and Ireland.
The project which won UCL the award for the Best Marketing Campaign category was the development of a single brand in conjunction with students focused on the student experience across key touch points. It helped build a sense of community across 21 disparate halls and student satisfaction soared to a record level as a result.
The Innovation in Student Experience award went to the Housingadvice.london website developed by UCL students for UCL students. Working in partnership with the Accommodation team, the website offers advice and professional guidance to first year students about to leave halls for private sector accommodation. It reached over half of first year UCL residents as unique visitors and around one third came back for more information.
Speaking about the success, Pippa Vanderplank, a third year student and a member of the student team within UCL Accommodation, said
“Being fully involved as part of the student team on these projects from conception has been a brilliant experience and receiving recognition for our work like this is a real bonus. There has been a great deal of positive change in terms of the student experience in UCL Halls from when I lived in halls two years ago to where we are now. Involving students in shaping this change seems to be paying off!
Speaking about the success, Ken Mathew, Head of Marketing, Communications and Student Experience, UCL Accommodation, said:
“I am delighted for our exceptional student team who have been an integral part of both projects and this recognition is thoroughly deserved. These awards are also testimony to the vanguard approach taken by UCL Accommodation to student experience. We develop our brand standards in conjunction with our students and focus on delivering what matters most to our students.
