Construction works

Updates on construction works impacting UCL Halls will be published on this web page as and when they become available to the UCL Accommodation team.

Last Updated

10 April 2025

London is a global, vibrant city and development is inevitable. The scarcity and spiralling cost of property in the capital makes it impossible for UCL to re-house those who may be temporarily affected by building works in the area.

For this reason, we are taking all steps to reduce the impact of all building works, but some noise and disruption to those living in UCL accommodation will at times, be inevitable. You will find any scheduled works that may disrupt the halls below.

Ann Stephenson House/Neil Sharp

Astor College

Major construction works are scheduled to take place at the Sainsbury Wellcome Centre (SWC), behind Astor College, from Monday, 31 March until February 2026. Contractors require minimal access to the courtyard, but there is a significant section of the area cordoned off. Additional sections of the courtyard will be restricted throughout the works. From January/ February 2026 there will be significant disruption to the Astor College courtyard while operatives dismantle scaffolding for the SWC. The major works scheduled for the adjacent courtyard, which backs onto Astor College, will be audible. Bedrooms in the courtyard side of Astor College will have a view of the works.

Ongoing Morgan Sindall Group construction works in close proximity to Astor College, which is visible by rooms on the side of the courtyard.
