This accessibility statement applies to the UCL Portico: MyMoney Student Statement - Tuition Fees.

Portico: MyMoney Student Statement - Tuition Fees is a UCL and Flywire webpage application. We want as many people as possible to be able to use this website, which means that you should be able to:

  • change colours, contrast levels and fonts
  • zoom in up to 300% without the text spilling off the screen
  • navigate the website using just a keyboard
  • navigate the website using speech recognition software
  • listen to most of the website using a screen reader

This website is partially compliant with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 AA standard, due to the non-compliances and exemptions listed below.

Non-accessible content

The content listed below is non-accessible for the following reasons.

Non-compliance with the accessibility regulations

'Student Statement' text against the background has a contrast ratio of 2.84:1. Expected contrast ratio should be 4.5:1 or higher. We suggest darkening the background to achieve this. This fails WCAG 1.4.3 Contrast (Minimum) (AA).
 
There is some hidden text on the page called “Group start Statement” inserted just below the heading Statement. This serves no purpose to the end user and could confuse a user when moving through the page. This fails WCAG 1.3.1 Info and Eelationships (A). 
 
On the Student Statement transaction search, a user can work through the edit boxes, but as they move to the years edit box it acts differently when you move on to it. To select a date, you have to press enter when you move on the a date, then press enter again for the date to be entered in to the edit box. A user does not know that you can select more than 1 year to add to this edit box, as no details are told, unless you have interacted with this type of box before. It would be good to rethink this box to see if another type of selection box would make a difference to users. This fails WCAG 1.3.1 Info and Relationships (A).
 
Throughout the UCL site for MyMoney, there are a few separators that are announced with no meaning. These are unlabelled and have no function.  This fails WCAG 1.1.1 Non-text Content (A).
 
There is a search box above the Tuition Transactions table where you can enter in the different types of files that you wish to look at. Once the search is initiated the screen changes showing the new search criteria. Any screen reader user is not notified that this has changed and there is no button to initiate the search either. This fails WCAG 3.2.2 On Input (A).
 
There is a link at the bottom of the Flywire Online Payments page to cancel the payment and move back to the UCL page, but this 'Cancel' option at the footer of Flywire web portal is not labelled as such and is confusing. This fails WCAG 2.4.4 Link Purpose (A).

There is a dialogue box on your tuition balance that contains an 'I' (information) button in the top right of the table, which is missed when tabbing the page. This button does not have a classification so gets missed by screen readers. On the same dialogue box there is a button that is classed as a link. This needs to be re-classed, as do others on the page. This fails WCAG 2.1.1 Keyboard (A). 
 
There are buttons on various pages site-wide that are classed as links, and vice versa. The labelling of these items needs consistency for a good user journey. This fails WCAG 3.2.4 Consistent Identification (AA) and WCAG 3.2.3 Consistent Navigation (AA).

Both the invoice and statement PDF produced for Students have accessibility issues relating to headings, structure, and labelling. UCL is currently working with Flywire the provider to make them more accessible.

Our websites contain third-party content. We do not have control over and are not responsible for the accessibility of this content, but we make best endeavours to work with the third-party to improve its accessibility. This may include:

  • content/functionality on our website
  • content hosted on other websites, such as social media sites.

Our testing processes

We tested the website using a combination of manual and automated checks alongside reference to the existing conformance reports provided by Flywire. If you find an issue we have not yet identified, you can report it to us. We’ll pass this information to the website owner who will review the issue, make sure it is included in our plan to fix issues and add it into the accessibility statement when it is next updated.
