About Money A+E
Money A+E are a non-profit social enterprise that provide money advice and education projects / services to people from disadvantaged communities. Volunteers play an invaluable part in helping them achieve this aim.
About the Role
Money A+E are looking for volunteers in their Project Support, Money Mentorship, and Customer Research Departments:
Project Support Volunteers – Volunteers to support advisers with welfare benefit and grant applications, benefit checks, and client follow up.
- Conducting initial triage assessments of clients (via telephone)
- Assisting clients with form filling and completing a basic financial statement
- Booking in clients for appointments with Money Coaches
- Inputting information into their Case Management System, monitoring spreadhseets and email database
- Communicating with clients via phone or email to share updates on their case and/or gather information
- Assisting Money Coaches with client appointments
- To provide assistance to the Workshop Trainers at workshops
- General administrative tasks (photocopying, scanning, creating client files and filing)
- To signpost and refer attendees to internal/external services
- Supporting with grant proposals
- Working with the marketing team
- This role is open to students in the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th year of their LLB. It is also open to LLM students.
Money Mentors Community Volunteer
Support in helping Money A+E to become Compliant Environment-ready by following the Compliant Environment (CE) framework.
Work with senior management and team members.
Ensure that any specific legislation Money A+E puts in place follows directives and compliancy initiatives.

This role is open to students in the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th year of their LLB. It is also open to LLM students.
Customer Research Volunteer
This role is suitable for commercially-minded individuals, offering you an overarching insight into how a community interest company is run. It simultaneously offers the opportunity to be part of shaping Money A+E CIC's business strategy.
To support in researching potential customers (Housing Associations, Charities, Corporates, Central Government) that fit with Money A+E’s business plan strategy, with the aim of increasing and diversifying income streams.
This role is open to all LLB and LLM students.
You will be volunteering for a community focused organisation. You will make a significant difference in the lives of 100's of individuals and families impacted by austerity, low paid income and more.
Skills and Characteristics
Essential:
Proficient in Excel, Word, and Teams
Strong communication skills, particularly in verbal and written formats, as well as over the phone.
Capable of working independently, flexibly, and taking initiative.
- We are looking for someone who has a desire to help people deal with the challenges of financial exclusion, debt and financial confidence.
Desirable:
Proficiency in PowerPoint, Microsoft Forms, Mailchimp, Canva, Zoom
Training and Supervision Provided:
Money A+E will provide you with:
- an induction
- E-Learning opportunities
- Provide in-house CMS training
- Information on their Policies and Procedures
- Students undertaking the Money Mentoring role will be provided with a mandatory 8 week training course (one half day a week).
All students will also receive the CAJ Mandatory Volunteer training, which covers data protection and confidentiality, working with vulnerable clients, professional conduct and regulation, self-care, and our expectations of CAJ volunteers.
Time Commitment and Location
Money A+E is based in Mansfield House, London, E13 8HT but work will primarily take place remotely or at outreach locations, where Money A+E go to deliver services.
Students are expected to commit at least one half day a week from late October until July 2025. Please ensure that you will be able to consistently commit to this role.

The Centre for Access to Justice now offers all students engaged in voluntary pro bono the opportunity to participate in the Pro Bono Skills Development Framework . This framework allows you to reflect on the skills gained during your placement, aligned with the Aurora Competence Framework. Completing it earns you a Certificate of Commitment to Pro Bono, acknowledging your dedication and skill development. Your participation will help you document and showcase the valuable competencies you've developed, however, please note that participation in the PBSDF scheme is entirely voluntary and will not affect your placement in any way.

Eligibility
This opportunity is open to Year 2, 3, and 4 LLB students, and all LLM students.
DBS Checks
This opportunity requires Enhanced DBS checks, to be processed through the UCL Student Enquiries Centre. Enhanced DBS checks take a considerable amount of time to be processed, so please ensure that you obtain all required documents as soon as you are selected in order to begin your placement as soon as possible.
