The UCL Centre for Access to Justice (CAJ) Student Pro Bono Committee is hosting its inaugural panel event on Wednesday 12 December at Drayton House.
We hope that this event will provoke discussion specifically about legal aid in the area of family law. The event will involve family lawyers discussing the following key questions:
What are some of the challenges practitioners face in legally aided family law matters?
What are some of the most striking cases practitioners on the panel have worked on?
What are panellists' views on the functioning of legal aid in the family law context?
Is there adequate legal representation for children and victims of domestic violence? If not, how can this be addressed and what can law students and others do to help?
How have legal aid cuts affected children and victims of domestic violence in need of legal aid?
The panel discussion will conclude after a Q&A session with the audience, after which all will be invited to enjoy some drinks and snacks, kindly provided by UCL CAJ. The event will last from 6.30 – 8.00pm.
