Core Programme Information 2019-20

Core Programme Information for 2019/20 has now been published

PLEASE NOTE: Following the release of the Core Programme Information (CPI) standard text earlier in the session, a later check of the text has been conducted to ensure that the links to the Academic Manual and other information were correct. This was necessary as at that point, parts of the Academic Manual were still being finalised.

This has now been completed and a fully-linked version of the CPI standard text is now available below.

The changes to the links etc that have been made since the earlier publication of the CPI text are as follows:

  • Section 4.1.1 (Key Dates) - the early May Bank Holiday was changed to Friday 8 May 2020 (VE Day), which was announced by the Government after the initial publication (the bank holiday was previously listed as Monday 4th May 2020).
  • Section 4.1.2 (UCL Examination Periods 2019-20) – the dates have now been confirmed and added.
  • Section 9.1 (Choosing Modules) – link for the new UCL Module Catalogue added as have the now confirmed module selection and verification deadline dates.
  • Section 12.12 (Academic Integrity) – the Academic Manual Chapter 6 link’s title has been amended from Section 9: Examination Irregularities and Plagiarism to Section 9: Student Academic Misconduct Procedure
  • Section 23.1 (Health, Safety and Security at UCL) the Security at UCL web-link and title has been amended (it was originally listed as UCL Security Services).

The two versions of the CPI standard text provided have both been updated with the above changes:

Standard UCL Text for Core Programme Information 2019-20 (WORD) – this is the “clean”, standard version to follow when producing new departmental documentation for students.

Standard UCL Text for Core Programme Information Amendments 2019-20 (WORD) – this is a version showing highlighted changes intended for use by departments wishing to update existing documents by focussing on the separate sections. Departments may find it easier to replace those entire sections with changes in them, to ensure all relevant information is captured.

Both are available from Chapter 9: Quality Review Framework Annexes

The key changes already highlighted in the earlier publication of the CPI standard text were as follows (retained here for information).

Key changes include:

  • Changes in the default ordering of sections – the ordering is still flexible to allow departments choice in structuring their documents, but there has been some movement in the default ordering to reflect newer regulations.
  • The Provost’s Office updated the welcome message from the President and Provost, Professor Michael Arthur (Section 1).
  • A reference to the new Module Catalogue (Section 9).
  • New text on Academic Integrity (Section 12).
  • New text on pregnancy and maternity leave etc, religious observance and illness and other extenuating circumstances added to the Extenuating Circumstances information (Section 13).

Updated text has also been added to:

  • Student Support and Wellbeing (Section 15) - particularly on the new Student Enquiries Centre, Disability Support and crisis support
  • Student Representation (Section 17)
  • Changemakers (Section 19) – including new information on Student Quality Reviewers
  • Global Citizenship (Section 20)
