Dr Beth Malory (UCL English) will join five other early career researchers chosen by the BBC and the Arts and Humanities Research Council (AHRC) to shape programming on BBC Radio 4, bringing new ideas and the latest academic scholarship to audiences.

Congratulations to members of UCL’s community who have been recognised in The King’s Birthday Honours for their outstanding contributions to economics, child health, the history of medicine, addiction care, science outreach on space, and patient safety.

Professor Andy Nisbet has been announced as UCL’s new Dean of the Faculty of Engineering Sciences, effective 1 August 2025.

UCL’s new Dean of Social and Historical Sciences has been announced as Professor Nick Witham, effective from 1 August 2025.

Twelve UCL alumni and students have been recognised in nine different categories in Forbes’ annual 30 Under 30 Europe list for 2025, which celebrates the young entrepreneurs and creatives in Europe.

Dr James Seddon (UCL Electronic and Electrical Engineering) is among 11 talented researchers to be awarded the UKRI Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council Quantum Technology Career Acceleration Fellowship. 

Professor Mariana Mazzucato (UCL Institute for Innovation & Public Purpose) has been appointed as Technical Expert to South Africa’s G20 Presidency and special presidential representative to its taskforce for economic growth.

Two UCL researchers have been named as Schmidt Science Fellows, an award only given to 32 exceptional early career researchers worldwide.

Seven academics from across UCL have been elected as Fellows of the Academy of Social Sciences in recognition of their excellence in fields including economics, education and gender inequality, with work addressing social issues facing people around the world.

Five UCL researchers have been appointed or re-appointed as National Institute for Health and Care Research (NIHR) Senior Investigators in the NIHR’s 2025 round of awards.
