Terms of Reference
Subject to any particular direction that may from time to time be given by the University Management Committee (UMC), the Health Strategy and Partnerships Committee is charged by UMC:
- To provide leadership, strategic direction and institutional coordination for the University’s major health partnerships including those involving capital projects and campus strategies;
- To oversee and shape the development of a University Health Strategy and plan;
- To guide the implementation of the University’s strategy and engagement with local, UK and international health partnerships and initiatives in collaboration with RIGE and faculties, ensuring that the University’s objectives from health relationships are realised;
- To consider emerging themes and opportunities in the external environment, and implications for the University’s strategic priorities;
- To ensure consideration of health partnerships in education and training;
- To consider strategic and cross-institutional matters relating to health partnerships and health strategy including institutional opportunities and risks arising from the Health and Life Sciences Leadership Group, RIGE and other Faculties and service areas;
- To oversee effective management of key risks for health portfolio matters and to ensure that these are identified, assessed and managed in line with the University’s risk management framework and institutional risk appetite;
- To support UMC in developing and keeping under review the risk appetite statement relating to the health portfolio;
- To report risks within the health portfolio to UMC; to provide assurance that the arrangements to manage these risks are appropriate and effective; and to escalate to UMC any significant regulatory or compliance risks with recommendations for response;
- To refer matters to UMC or other committees where they impact on the responsibility of other UMC committees or where the Chair considers the decision to be of strategic importance;
To make recommendations on health matters to UMC as required.
