Dr. John Evans defended his Ph.D dissertation
entitled "Late Neogene Agglutinated Foraminifera from the Central Arctic
Ocean" in 1998. John currently works as a postdoctoral investigator at
St. Andrews University in Scotland.

Dr Rachel Preece defended her Ph.D. thesis on the Miocene deep-water
benthic foraminifera from the Atlantic Ocean in 1999. Rachel now works
for Chevron Overseas Petroleum in the USA as a basin modeller.

Dr. Theodora van den Akker was a Ph.D.
student in our group, sponsored by SAGA Petroleum. Doorke defended her
thesis on the Upper Cretaceous micropalaeontology of the West of Shetlands
area in 2000.

Dr. Muna Al-Salameen carried out her
PhD project on the response of benthic foraminifera to heavy-metal pollution
in the Eastern Mediterranean. She has now returned home to Kuwait
|
Rupert Green has just submitted his
PhD thesis on Miocene deep-water benthic foraminifera from the Gulf of
Mexico.

Jodie Fisher defended her M.Res. dissertation
entitled "The recolonisation by deep-water benthic foraminifera following
the 1991 Mt Pinatubo volcanic eruption. She is currently doing a Ph.D.
in Micropaleontology at the University of Plymouth.

Simon Hill defended his M.Res. dissertation
entitled "The recolonisation by deep-water benthic foraminifera following
the 1991 Mt Pinatubo volcanic eruption in 1998. Simon took part in an
international expedition to the South China Sea in July, 1998. He currently
works for Thames Water. |

Sev Kender successfully defended his
MSc thesis (with distinction) in 2003, on the Eocene DWAF from the Magura
Unit. He is currently working on his PhD project on benthic foraminifera
from Miocene deep water clastic environments, jointly supervised by Bob
Jones (BP). |
Laia Alegret came to UCL from the University
of Zaragoza, and is currently a Post-Doctoral Fellow in our group. We
have been collaborating on topics dealing with the Cretaceous / Paleogene
boundary.

Claudiu Chendes was a visiting SOCRATES student from Babes-Bolyai
University, in 2003, and worked on modern foraminifera from the Marmara
Sea. He is currently collaborating on further studies of modern foraminifera
from the Marmara and Aegean seas, and has just published an article in
Acta Paleontologica Romana.

Lorand Silye was a visiting student in
our Foram Group in 2004. He is currently a Ph.D. student at the Babes-Bolyai
University in Romania, working on Miocene foraminifera from Transylvania.
While he was in London, he collaborated on studies of the Miocene agglutinated
foraminifera from the Norwegian-Greenland Sea and the Arctic Ocean.

Tania Micoara is our current
SOCRATES student from the BBU in Romania. Tania is currently helping with
a variety of projects, and will study the Miocene DWAF from Trinidad.
