Fragile objects

Some objects are just too big for the space currently available in the Petrie Museum. Many of these are currently stored high above the cases. It would be nice to put these on display, but that would mean taking other objects off display and finding another space for them. Shuffling things within a limited space quickly escalates into a big logistical puzzle!

Certain artefacts are very sensitive to light. If these were put on constant display without proper safeguards they would quickly fade. Pieces such as this painted face from a coffin is still vibrant with colour, and very fragile, meaning they often cannot be on display, or require very restricted lighting.
