UCL Optical Tweezers Group:  Ultra-high resolution spatio-temporal microsopy at UCL

Information

A collaborative project funded by the UCL Platform Technologies Initiative.

We are developing a two-photon stimulated emission depletion (STED) microscope for ultra-high spatial and temporal resolution imaging that will be available to UCL users from all Faculties.  Development work is being carried out by four UCL research groups:

Jonathan Ashmore (UCL Ear Institute and Dept Neuroscience, Physiology & Pharmacology)
Angus Bain (Dept Physics & Astrnomy)
Phil Jones (Dept Physics & Astronomy)
    Guy Moss (Dept NPP)

The instrument will combine two-photon infra-red excitation with phase and polarisation control of the depletion laser beam to achieve a greater pentration depth in 'thick' specimens, and will eventuallyform a part of the UCL biological imaging facilities.

Please check back for further news and developments.

Please contact Jonathan Ashmore for availability.
