Here's what we get up to:
(To understand what all the Raia abyssicola / batis stuff is all about, click here.)
(For exact times & meeting details of the upcoming sessons, click here.)
Raia abyssicola: Most Monday evenings.
These are aggressive sessions for advanced skaters. We get on a tube and go to a place called Playstation Skate Park, in Ladbrook Grove. This is a sheltered place with a big vert. ramp (10ft, 11ft ext.), midi ramp (6ft), mini mini ramp, and a big street section with fun boxes, spines and loads of quarter pipes. We go on Mondays because it's usually quite quiet there. Playstation is open between 5 and 10 but we're usually there between 6 and 10. We also often meet up with the aggressive guys from Imperial. I'm totally addicted to this place, once you go there you'll be hooked like a tramp on beer. MMMmmmm beer.
Everyone at Playstation wears the usual pads- knees & wrists. Bladers & snakeboarders are required to wear a helmet. So are boarders and BMXers if they want to ride vert.
Raia batis: Most Wednesday afternoons.
IN THE SUMMER:
These are skating sessions for everyone. We take lots of skaters from beginners to advanced. We go down to the Albert Memorial at the bottom of Hyde Park. I usually skate down but some people catch a train. The nearest tube is South Kensington. When you come out of the station follow the signs and enjoy the skate along the tunnel to Imperial College. When you see daylight head up the road untill you see us in the park. Once there some of the beginners skate around the Serpentine or take part in the street hocky. Others grind the rails and have fun on Imperials' box. All sorts of shit goes on Wednesday afternoons. We're usually out between 2 and 6.
Armour not assential but I recommend knee pads & wrist guards.

IN THE WINTER:
Sessions for everyone. We get a train to Royal Oak and mainly play street hocky ( IC lend us hocky sticks). There is a good space for beginners and a phat place for skateboarders. The whole site is under a flyover so if it rains we don't get wet. Clever.

Raia binoculata: Most Friday nights.
SUMMER ONLY:
These are also skating sessions for anyone who wants to come. Quite a few people usually turn up with a range of abilities from very good to total beginners. We go down and meet with Imperial at about 9.15 outside the main entrance to the college. We get the tube there (same directions as above).
We skate around London in two groups. One very fast and one slow. It's such a rush. Some of us often stop to make use of shiny curbs or benches and we usually end up playing games or grinding the benches at Trafalgar Square. We normally end up getting the tube home at around midnight and sometimes I stay out for ages and skate home at about 2am. I regularly went on these night skates in my first year and it really helped me get to know London.
Knee & wristies recommended.
All of the above sessions are great fun. Skating with other people helps you improove and learn new stuff so much quicker.
