School of Library, Archive and Information Studies

Information Sources and How To Use Them
(INSTG001)

This half-unit undergraduate course is being revised and updated for 2000-2001.

The course provides a critical assessment of the Internet and other electronic research tools. It is open to undergraduates from all departments, but is particularly suitable for those who have less opportunity to develop key skills in information technology in their other studies. An examination of the Web as a research resource will include an evaluation of Web searching techniques and a comparison with more traditional electronic bibliographic search tools. Students will also be introduced to current tools for Web page creation and to new developments in Web technologies for Internet publishing.

The course will be taught in the Second Term by Vanda Broughton and
Susan Hockey.

A course web site is in preparation.
