Thesis title: The Rite of Urban Passage: the Spatial
Transformation of Ashura Ritual in Iranian Cities during
Iranian Modernisation
MSc in Built Environment;
Advanced Architectural Studies at the Bartlett, UCL, University of
London, 2003.
Dissertation: A Socio-Spatial Idea in Historical
Iranian Cities: A Comparative Study of the Spatial Structure
of the City of Shushtar and Dezfoul
This
MSc course is dedicated to Space Syntax theory and method.
Apart from Space Syntax
itself, my studies during this course were focused
on (a) Lefebvre’s ideas of space; (b) modern family
and housing in the UK; (c) the effect of spatial configuration
of museums
on behaviour of visitors; and (d) transformation of
Iranian
cities during modernisation. My dissertation aimed
at challenging the conventional idea of bazaar in Iranian
cities.
Diploma for Postgraduate Studies (FDPS),
SOAS, University of London, 2002
Dissertation: The Architectural
Ideal City in the Italian Renaissance
The course was based
on two subjects; (1) Studies in European Society; (2) Studies
in Media and Communications
MSc in Architecture, University of
Tehran, Iran, 1996
Final project: Cultural Structure of the
City of Dezfoul Award: Thesis of the year in Art and Architecture
(1996) in Iran
The final project aimed at
designing urban area around a shrine which is the most
significant
location
for the Ashura ritual in the city of Dezfoul in the south
of Iran. Therefore the project has been engaged with
social history of the city as well as the concepts
of vernacular architecture.
