Welcome Ann Fenech

Update: I received my PhD at UCL in October 2011. For a more up-to-date profile visit my linkedin profile.

I am a PhD student in the UCL Centre for Sustainable Heritage working within the AHRC/EPSRC Science and Heritage programme in collaboration with The National Archives (UK).

My current research interests include looking at material lifetime within the field of heritage science. In particular, I am interested in understanding how environmental conditions present in archival storage affect colour photographs, especially the images. This image degradation will in turn affect the utility, hence value, of the photographs to archival users as the information stored within the images is lost.

By integrating these three research strands - environmental conditions of storage, material degradation, and value changes - a more complete understanding of the lifetime of these materials can be modelled.
