Research Interests
Glasses and biomaterials for biomedical applications (bone repair, tissue regeneration, cancer radiotherapy)
I aim at rationalising the dissolution/degradation/bioactivity behaviour of the biomaterial based on:
(a) Bulk structure: network connectivity and nanoscale features (chains, loops, rings, clusters)
(b) Diffusion mechanism and migration paths of modifier ions in the bulk glass
(c) Adsorption and reactivity at the glass surface

Titanium oxide surfaces: Adsorption, electronic and catalytic properties

"Maya Blue" inorganic-organic hybrid materials

Computational Methods
Classical Molecular Dynamics (codes: DL_POLY, LAMMPS, GULP)
Ab-initio (Car-Parrinello) Molecular Dynamics (codes: CP, CPMD)
