I did my undergraduate studies at the University of Edinburgh in Mathematical Physics with my main interest being theoretical cosmology. At the end of my degree and after I got to see what research is like in theoretical physics I realised that it is not for me and tried to pursue a path in applied mathematics. Mathematics were always my secret love and during my physics degree my favourite course were the more mathematically-oriented. Following my undergraduate degree I went to the University of Cambridge and did a Master of Advanced Studies in Applied Mathematics (Part III) were I got to know mathematical biology for the first time. This gave me the opportunity to find one of the most interesting applied-mathematics fields which was biology and medicine and hence, decided to start over my joining the four-year Mres+PhD course in CoMPLEX. That programme was ideal as it allowed me to get in contact with a large number of different research areas, unknown to me, and presented me with a lot of choices for my PhD.

    My (non-academic) extracurricular interests are:

  • Photography, mainly landscape and nature themed but every aspect is equally interesting to me.

  • Good music, including classical music and rock (strange mix). "Classical" is a generic term (not appropriate if you ask me) describing the style and not the era as I listen to classical, roantic as well as modern

  • I also enjoy trekking, running or just walking and particularly in nature far from urban distractions.
