Elastin Williams Syndrome probe
Here, two probes (both coloured green) are shown on chromosome 7. By chance both chromosomes 7 have come to rest alongside each other in this metaphase spread. The right chromosome is intact, showing the elastin gene signal on the long arm of chromosome 7 (upper signal) and a second control signal near the end of the long arm. The left chromosome shows only the control signal, indicating a deletion of the Elastin Williams region. [note: the two chromosomes are aligned in opposite orientations].
