am a senior optometrist in Low Vision Rehabilitation at Moorfields Eye
Hospital in London. I am particularly interested in the
rehabilitation of people with central vision loss from macular disease,
and people with field loss due to neurological conditions (such as
hemianopia). I see both adults and children as NHS and private
patients. I prescribe a full range of low vision devices
including spectacles, magnifiers, telescopes (including bioptic
telescopes), prisms for visual field loss and minifiers for people with
restricted visual fields. I also have experience of eccentric
viewing training for people with macular disease.
I am a
Member of the College of Optometrists, and hold the College's Diploma
in the Rehabilitation of Visual Impairment (DipRVI). I am also
leader of the Optometric Low Vision group for the European Academy of
Optometry and Optics, and a committee member of the International
Society for Low Vision Research and Rehabilitation. I am fully
registered with the General Optical Council.
For a NHS
appointment, you will need to be referred to the low vision clinic at
Moorfields Eye Hospital by your General Practitioner (GP). To see
me as a private patient, please contact Mandy Peckar on
firstname.lastname@example.org or by phone on 020 7566 2154 (+44 20
7566 2154 from outside the UK).
