All-Party Parliamentary Group (APPG) on Ovarian Cancer
7 March 2018
Professor Menon reported on progress in ‘ovarian cancer screening’ to the All-Party Parliamentary Group (APPG) on Ovarian Cancer at an inquiry held on 20th February looking at what more can be done to diagnose ovarian cancer early. Professor Menon presented via video link to a range of parliamentarians and observers on progress in the UK Collaborative Trial of Ovarian Cancer Screening (UKCTOCS) and results of the UK Familial Ovarian Cancer Study (UKFOCSS). Professor Anne Mackie, Director of Screening from Public Health England who was also present complimented UKCTOCS for the quality of data the trial is producing and discussed the practicalities of setting up an ovarian screening programme in the future if UKCTOCS reported a definite mortality benefit in 2019. The APPG report will be published during Ovarian Cancer Awareness Month in March.
