Exploiting recent genetic advances, the peripheral sensory neuron subsets that underpin distinct pain conditions will be characterised in mice, and this information extrapolated to humans.
Pain is the biggest clinical challenge of the age, and new insights into distinct pain mechanisms promise therapeutic advances that have so far proved elusive.
