The London - New York Conference
What Now? Europe and North America in a Disordered World
This innovative international conference will look at the state of the North Atlantic world in the light of the recent administration change in Washington.
It will address paramount issues confronting both Europe and North America: the global financial crisis; the multiple crises of the Middle East, from Palestine, to Iraq and Afghanistan; and the ethical, diplomatic and military problems posed by the existence of rogue regimes in the developing world.
With the Obama Administration in power for the best part of a year, the conference will look at its record to date. It will also consider how far the EU has moved towards the ambition of its founding fathers that it should exercise a political and diplomatic influence commensurate to its economic power.
The conference has drawn on the worldwide influence and renown of UCL, The New York Review of Books, and The Guardian to bring together speakers of exceptional distinction from academia, the media and public life. We hope to open new perspectives on current global realities.
