Stadtklang, the regular UCL Urban Laboratory event exploring all things sonic and spatial, returns to the Arcola Bar in Dalston on Sunday 14th September to celebrate the launch of the new book The Acoustic City.

Edited by the urbanist and writer Matthew Gandy (UCL Geography) and composer and Touch recording artist BJ Nilsen, The Acoustic City consists of a series of cutting-edge essays on sound and the city. Covering urban acoustics, sonic environments, sound cultures and the politics of noise, the book provides an exciting diverse range of perspectives and focuses on the distinctively aural dimension of urban experience today.

The book's editors will join us to discuss and perform some of its themes and ideas. Several contributors to the book will explore aspects to their chapters including philosopher, writer and activist Nina Power, sound artist and musician Merijn Royaards, critical urbanist and musician Louis Moreno and urban geographer Andrew Harris.

All welcome, free entry and no prior booking required. Please like the Stadtklang Facebook page to hear more about upcoming events. For more information on The Acoustic City visit the website.

The Arcola Theatre is only 100 metres from Dalston Kingsland and Dalston Junction on the Overground, and with plenty of buses passing nearby.
