Gothenburg Design Week: Queer heritage and its contradictions

Urban Pamphleteer will feature in this panel event organised by Curating the City at the University of Gothenburg Centre for Critical Heritage Studies as part of the Gothenburg Design Week on Wednesday 24 October.

Presentations followed by roundtable discussion on queer space/heritage activism, with a focus on the different tactics being used to queer night-space, asking questions such as:

- What policies are in place to protect queer spaces and built heritage and how did they come about/how well do they work?
- Which spaces and LGBTQ+ groups are best protected and which, if any, are overlooked?
- What kinds of evidence are available to understand the heritage of queers spaces, past and present?
- How do shifts in identity categories that reflect expressions of minority sexuality and gender affect heritage classification and engagements with heritage?

The event is followed by a reception to mark the Gothenburg launch of Urban Pamphleteer #7 LGBTQ+ Night-time Spaces: Past, Present, Future.
