E-mail list for fixed-term staff

The e-mail communication group (list) aimed at all academic and related staff on fixed term contracts is now ready. I hope you will join it and publicise it locally to persuade as many others as possible to join. The list is open so anyone can join although I expect AUT members might be the most active users of the list.

The list is also 'unmoderated' so what you write goes straight on it. Make sure it is worth saying to everyone before you send it.

I hope this facility allows us to communicate better. In a couple of days I shall circulate a message about a key issue to those on the list which I hope we can have a good debate about, with the possible outcome of changing a particular AUT policy at May Council.

At the bottom of this message are full details about how the list operates. Please join the list and participate

Colin Bryson, on behalf of the national FNS and CRS committees, AUT

1 CHARTER

The original charter for the list was:

This list will provide a support medium and infrastructure for the activities of academic and related staff who are on fixed term/temporary contracts in the UK. This gives them particular difficulties in maintaining academic contacts and networks. The existence of the list will allow such individuals to feel more involved in the wider UK HE community. The list will also help to monitor the implementation of the Concordat on Contract Research Staff careers recently established between the UK Research Councils and the CVCP.

The list is there to:
