Pool Street West public consultation - May 2017

Overview

Following the UCL East masterplan consultation from summer 2015 to autumn 2016, the first public consultation events of 2017 focused on the detailed design process and initial concept designs for the first UCL East building, currently known as Pool Street West. The activities took place between May and June in Bloomsbury and Stratford. Feedback was gathered from both the UCL community and local East London communities to gain understanding of thoughts, issues and aspirations.

The road shows followed the form of a mobile exhibition which introduced the project team and presented the academic vision, history and context of the site, community involvement from the Masterplan process, how the Masterplan shaped the concept designs, and finally the concept designs and plans for the building. Outreach sessions were also held, targeted at groups who may not otherwise engage in the general consultation process. They featured presentations and walkthroughs from the team, followed by in-depth discussion with local youth and UCLU Sabbatical Officers.

The Public Consultation Report documents the activities, findings and outcomes. This will inform the Statement of Community Involvement, to be submitted as part of a future planning application.
