Translation Technology (Imperial College)
The course offers a theoretical and practical in-depth examination of the conceptual background, development and use of information technology in the translation industry. We cover such things as translation memory, software localization, terminology management and the use of the world-wide web. The course includes hands-on experience with a wide range of translation tools in a cluster room containing twelve networked computers. Most of the current commercially available translation packages are covered.
Assessment is based on two projects (25% each) and an essay (50%).
Please note that places on this course cannot always be guaranteed in advance, as they depend on available places in computer cluster rooms at Imperial College.
