Supporting transition at UCL

Starting a degree is a defining time in your life. UCL’s Transition Programme is an innovative project to support all new undergraduate students with the social and academic challenges that are part of university life. A wide range of support networks are available to help you to succeed in your degree. Working with the Transition Programme, your department will run a student mentoring scheme and peer-assisted learning sessions with experienced students in the same teaching area. There will also be workshops on a variety of topics such as study skills, time management and academic writing. The Transition Programme also promotes events and discussion about all the things that affect students, ranging from accommodation and finance to jobs and socialising. This happens through activities such as talks, university tours, social events and virtual discussion forums.

You can find full information at: www.ucl.ac.uk/transition.

The site also includes student profiles, links to the electronic discussion forums, resources and links on academic skills and lots of general information on UCL and London. New students should access the interactive pre-enrolment transition site linked to the transition page above before they arrive at UCL; there are activities and resources designed to help new students before they register for their degree programmes.
